Top Ten Reasons to Adopt a Black Cat

10. You'll save money on their Halloween costumes.
9. You can always find them in the snow.
8. Holding a black cat is very slimming.
7. Black cats match any decor.
6. A lint brush isn't required for a black-tie affair.
5. When you love a black cat, you get lucky in love.
4. Black cats are like onyx, a precious gemstone.
3. Black cats don't care what color YOU are.
2. Love knows no color.

And the number one reason to adopt a black cat:

1. They are the least likely to be adopted.

Sorry if it's been posted already. I haven't seen it before.

That warms my heart. My little Kit is black... except for the tiniest little spot of white on his chest, haha. He's the first black cat I've had, and I adore him

My only 2 cats that I have ever had were black.

How could anyone not love a black cat?

I would love to have more black kitties!!

For the last few weeks, Petsmart has a pair of brothers up for adoption that look just like my boy Spyder. I have to stop and say hi to them when I go in there.

It's so true. There is a lot of prejudice towards black cats, which of course is a bunch of hooey!

My shelter crew right now consists of two black cats with some white, two black and white cats and a brown tabby. Except for Cookie - the newest arrival , these other cats have been languishing there. My BF and I stopped in today for treats 'n' trims. (nails).

They handled the clipping quite well.

Those are good and thanks for sharing them with us. But don't forget reason #12: BECAUSE THEY ARE THE MOST ELEGANT AND LOVELY OF ALL CATS. (I'm biased. Also proud.)

My black fluffball came from a shelter. How can you not love black kitties???

It's the same with dogs, though. There are always several black labs at all our local shelters.

Awww, how sweet and so true.

I have such a soft spot for black kitties thanks to the tiny kitten that came into my life 14 1/2 years ago and taught me to love cats - my baby girl, Katie.

OMG! How could you NOT love a black cat? When we took Neffie I had my doubts that she'd ever be ok because of her background, but even with her issues, she's the sweetest and most loving cat I've had the pleasure of meeting.
She never bites, she just gets upset if you pick her up and carry her anywhere.
She wants to love you on her time. (and now she's Rocket's little sis, she will cuddle with him when she's nervous) I definately recommend a black cat to anyone!!!

My sweet Alley was black, Riley is black and even my foster Akasha is black

We always had black cats when I was little. I was probably 10 or so before I realized cats even came in different colors!

I love my little girl! She's about 7 months old in those pics I posted. She's such a sweetheart! I adopted her from a local rescue about 3 months ago...well, she adopted me, I just signed the papers!

I *prefer* black cats! I always have, in fact. When we adopted Reagan, we almost went for a black kitty instead, but the lady at the shelter felt that Reagan was a better fit for us (and I'm pretty sure that she was right).

My coworker just adopted a black kitten and an orange kitten...she wanted a black one because they're least likely to be adopted

My next one is going to be black

Black cats not getting adopted b/c they're black is, unfortunately, true.
No one would adopt Maverick from the local animal shelter b/c he's black, and he's been one of the most sweetest, loving cats I've ever had!

I've had more black cats than any other, and they've all been big babies. I LOVE black cats!
