Chloe (who is almost 4 months old) will knead at this blanket I have while trying to suck from it. It's like she thinks the blanket is her mom?

She was found at 4 weeks with her sister and no mom and had to be bottle fed. Is this normal behavior? I've only seen her do it a few times. The blanket is a really soft Barefoot Dreams blanket.

Cats that loose their kitty mommy at a young age sometimes develope funny/strange habits. My mom got two kittens at a young age one does the same thing your cat does, the other carries around a little stuffed horse. She takes that thing EVERYWHERE! The most ironic part about the animal she chose is that our whole family is horse crazy. It was perfect that she picked that animal!

It's not just a bottle baby behavior. Lots of cats love soft things, much for the same reason we do.

The suckling behavior can also happen in kittens who had a mother cat that never attempted to really ween them. I've had cats in the past that were taken from the mother at 5 months old.. who still wanted to nurse.

Orphan kittens and those taken from mom/siblings before 10-12 weeks old can have those types of habits. Sometimes they grow out of it, sometimes not.
