I got a kitten about a week ago. She is now eight weeks old. A couple days after I got her she seemed to develop some kind of problem with her left eye. She has had this issue for about a week.

Symptoms:

-DIscharge, area around eye looks wet
-Kitten is lethargic
-Sneezing (just started a couple days ago)
-Eye is not opened fully. Keeps it 1/4 open or less
-Sleeping a lot. I know kittens sleep a lot but it seems this is more than normal.

Have been putting Erythromycin Ophthalmic Ointment and it doesn't seem to be helping much. Does she have conjuntivitis? Any help appreciated. Thanks

ER vet if you have one a week is too long for any issue in a young kitten

Your best bet and the prudent thing to do is to get your kitten in to see your Vet at the first opportunity.

The symptoms you describe can be anything from a routine URI to a feline herpes flare-up to something much more serious.

The obvious fact is that the kitten is ill and with the sneezing beginning, it sounds like a course of antibiotics will be needed.

I certainly don't know the circumstances of your obtaining a kitten at the young age of 7 weeks, but they are quite fragile at this age and very susceptible to all sorts of diseases. In a perfect world, kittens wouldn't go to their new homes until they are at least 12 weeks old and fully vaccinated.

Good luck, hope you get good news from your Vet and some meds to make your kitten feel better.

It sounds like a URI, but it could be something else. Either way, you need to get your kitten in to see the vet, ASAP...
