Cat scratch itch & sting?

Not sure wher to post this....but here it goes....

Why is it that when my kitties (accidentally) scratch ME, it itches and stings my skin for quite a while?

Happens to me, too. I attributed it to the fact that I have a slight cat allergy.

Heard the old saying cat scratch fever?

It is something they have in their claws. Maybe because they are dirty. I use peroxide on mine and it goes away in a few hours.
