My 14 week old devon rex has TERRIBLE breath!!! She gets roo mince as her main source of food as she wont really touch biscuits of any kind.
He teeth all look fine (the cute little ones that she has!!!) so I dont know why it smells so bad.....
any suggestions guys?

Teething can make the breath stinky for a while, so that may be all it is. She's the right age for it.

Are you feeding her just kangaroo meat (nothing mixed in)? How much of the Royal Canin is she eating? It doesn't sound like she's getting a balanced diet, from what you've posted so far. It is very important for kittens to get all the right vitamins and minerals to grow normally, and plain meat doesn't provide that.

Aussie vets seem to have reasonable nutrition knowledge ... start there...

if feeding raw you should be giving meat organs and bone

Get some chicken necks or chicken wing tips, most supermarkets have them.

Also the other minces like VIP have added 'stuff', though I don't like them as they do have preservatives. Still it's an option aside from the roo - which can be highly addictive and often cats will refuse other food.

I feed roo twice a week, other meats lamb, chicken, beef etc. all the other days with necks/wings daily as their afternoon snack when I get home from work

yeah i might have to try switching it up a bit...i know roo meat can be quite addictive to animals haha!
as for the chicken wings, they wouldnt last 2 seconds with the dogs around (they are predominately inside...only outside when im working).
I'll give it a go though.
I noticed her breath wasnt as bad today, she has a thing for wanting to lick me expecially on my face hence the reason i cant smell it in case anyone was wondering lol!

well im STILL having problems, i think i have the fussiest cat in the world!!!
all she will eat is roo mince and whiskers kitten food. i tried leaving her with other food but she went too long without eating and it was worrying me so i caved and gave her whiskers.

i want to look after her the best i possibly can so all this is becoming a little stressful. i know she needs a balanced diet but what am i meant to do if she refuses to eat?

HELP!

Do you know what the breeder was feeding her?

If she likes the whiskas, then give it to her. If you can feed the one in the tub labled Natural it's better than the pouches, or try her on Optimum pouches they are pretty good quality.

Also, never known a cat to refuse the little Fancy Feast tins (especially the ones in gravy) they don't come in kitten but I've never fed wet kitten anyway and most important is you get her eating something.

The breeder was feeding her roo with oats and weet bix (i took the last 2 ingredients out though) and claimed she was eating royal canin biscuits (which i highly rate) mixed with whiskers biscuits....well she WONT touch biscuits so after spending all that money on them my dogs now get them haha!
ive heard optimum is really good, im going shopping today so ill have a look around.
as for the kitten pouches, i thought u had to give kittens "kitten food" but if adult is ok ill look for the fancy feast ones

thanks a bunch!

If you looking for mostly meat canned food with appropriate supplements I would highly recommend EVO 95% meat for cats. (Assuming you can get it in Queensland
) Ares and Hypnos absolutely love
the 95% venison.

Okay, this doesn't contribute to the thread at all, but kangaroos are eaten in Australia?! Do humans eat it, or is it something you just give to animals? If humans do eat it, then what does it taste like?

Yes they are eaten, both by pets and humans. You buy it like steak, I'm a vegetarian so can't say what it tastes like. Plus, I could never eat Skippy anyway. (He's like the kangaroo version of Flipper)
