Do your cats let you sleep through the night?

Sash has always been notorious for waking me up in the night, he's 15 and he still does the exact same thing, just about all night long. I think the longest we go is maybe every 3 hours, he sometimes wakes me up as much as every hour! It probably doesn't help that I'm a restless sleeper and that he's way too spoiled.

His routine is always the same, climb behind mommy on her pillow and start biting her hair until she get's up and gives me some food!
I've tried saying "NO" firmly and he just will not have it, he doesn't give up. I can't leave the bowl filled or he'll gorge himself and lately we've been doing more canned food at night, so it's not an option to leave it sitting out.

So, how are your babies? Do they let you sleep peacefully through the night and never bother you or do they awake you at a certain time?

They have only ever kept me awake the first two weeks each was new to my household. My kitties are extremely well behaved.

I have to say, Seamus gets out all his bad behavior during the day... like now, Mr. Hyper is attacking my leg every time I walk up and down the house, he tore apart my grocery list, there are bottles I had on the counter for recycling all over the kitchen floor, he pounced and nipped my head while watching TV...

There's a reason... I got home from work yesterday and was exhausted. Ate dinner, watched some TV, and fell asleep on the couch from 7-10pm... then got up and went right into bed... tried to sleep in, and that's when he started acting up.

He's very good about sleeping through the night, and lets me get in an extra couple hours on weekends... but if I don't entertain him when I am home, he gets very restless and takes it out on me during the day.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a well behaved cat.

From midnight on, Much is the only one sleeping. Lucy decides that she wants to sleep on my pillow basically suffocating me
then settles down under my chin when I foil her diabolical plan.

Carly drags toys upstairs and starts to serenade them.
She loves singing to them. When that is done, she jumps up on my side of the bed and Lucy has a hissy fit.

About 4 we can all go back to sleep.
And the alarm goes off at 5:30

In Steelers Country!
Everyone is pretty good at letting us sleep.
Elliott will wake us up from time to time when he attacks one of the mirrors in our bedroom...he just can't figure out that the cat in the mirror is him and not some random cat that broke into the house during the night

But, the first person who enters the kitchen in the morning is treated to a chorus of purring and meowing.
They "Sing" for their canned food breakfast...you'd think the poor little things were starving

I guess I'm pretty lucky. My cats sleep through the night. In fact, it's me who wakes them up in the morning. Every once in a blue moon, they fight and wake me up but it's rare. Buster once had a phase where he tried waking me up every morning at 5 AM for three months in a row. I never reacted. I realized that if I said, "quiet" or whatever, it would just reinforce the behavior. I just kept my eyes closed and pretended that I didn't hear him. He eventually stopped this behavior. Now he only meows in case of emergencies such as when there was a huge piece of poop in the water (don't even ask how it got there) and he was crying loudly due to thirst.

The only time I wake up is if they are throwing up or hissing. Nothing else seems to wake me up. Now DH on the other hand is a light sleeper. They start around 3am but he will not get up until 4:30 to feed them. When Ben was younger he would cry in the mirror anywhere from 1-3am, DH did get up for him though.

I wish Junior would let me sleep! Every hour and a half or so he will start meowing. As soon as I move he climbs on me and insists on 5-10 minutes of petting before he'll go back to his side of the bed and back to sleep.

I varies with Blossom. When she decides to sleep on the bed it's usually near my legs. I wake up b/c I can't move them & feel cramped. She sometimes wakes me at 6-6.30 am by either looking into my face & I feel her presence or head butting around my face/neck.

Both my husband and I wake up at least once during the night petting Lilly. Somehow she always manages to get her head under our hands and we just automatically start petting her.

Since the addition of Forrest to our family...well...ARGH...there is just no peace at all at night anymore. Between having to pet Lilly and now having Forrest sleeping with us and waking up at about 4:30am it's just not pleasant.

First thing after waking Forrest uses the cat box in our master bath in which he has to "sing" rather loudly while he meticulously digs (for what seems like hours) to cover his mess. Then he's up to my pillow to chew on my hair. If that doesn't get me up he has a game of getting into my palms and grabbing and shaking the fronds until I yell at him to stop. It's really anoying to look over at your teenager, standing upright in the plam tree, paws stretched upwards grabbing and shaking all the while looking at you to see if you are up yet. Once of these mornings I'm really going to lose it.

I'm resigned to the fact that I'll never have another full nights sleep.

It depends what you consider through the night to be. I get about 5 hours before Mosi's up and about and wanting everyone else to be up and about too. I suppose I should have shut him out the back from the start, but it's too late now. He just doesn't need a lot of sleep. Sometimes I shut them both out if they wake me more than an hour before I want to get up, and sometimes Mosi just climbs into bed for a cuddle, but either way I still get my sleep disrupted. But I wouldn't swap my sleep deprived life for one without cats.

Tino likes to sleep under the covers so periodically I wake up to him digging the covers trying to get under them.

Sometimes Kiko wakes me up giving me Kiko kisses on my face.

And sometimes I wake up when I hear them running around.

They are all very good kitties who I adore.

I confine Lucy Belle to her kennel with the mesh door zipped up at night. I am not sure if I should be doing this forever. I had her confined because I didn't want her to crawl out and get *lost*. I had been doing this ever since I got the kennel when she was about 2 weeks old.

Normally, I put her to bed since I do enforce a bedtime for her. If she's playing outside, I'll just calmly let her know that it's time for bed. I just have to pick her up and place her back into her kennel. Sometimes she'll just go in quietly and sometimes, she will put up a fight!

Anyway, once she's in her kennel, she'll just sit and stare for a while, or play wrestling with Bubbly, her stuffed teddy. I turn off the light about 15 mins later and she'll be all quiet.

Never have to wake up in the middle of the night for her. So, I guess, she sleeps through the night then. She'll wake me up when she started scratching the mesh door. Usually, that's about the time when I wake up too.

Ophelia's Buspar use has resulted in one long-term side effect even despite discontinued use-she's kneady!

She wakes me up kneading on my bladder, my chest, or my forehead.
I don't mind it one bit--as long as she's finally enjoying life I'm happy.

Hannah will sleep through the night in her bed which is on the floor next to my bed. Callie wakes up somewhere around 5am to go potty. Usually she goes to sleep somewhere else in the house. If it's cold, she'll jump up in bed with me and snuggle up. She doesn't usually wake me up, though.

They don't wake me up unless I try to sleep in.
