Whisper - another FIP victim

My friend told me today that her 7 year-old cat, Whisper, was PTS on Monday as a result of FIP that was only diagnosed 10 days ago. She has been ill for some time, recovering slowly, so we all hoped, from a dose of rat poison. The vet thinks that the poison affected her immune system and allowed the FIP to kick in actively. I pointed my friend in the direction of this site and she found some useful info, but of course, nothing could be done for Whisper. Now she thinks it possible that she may have lost another cat to it some time ago without realising what the symptoms meant. Whisper's littermate, Sylvester, is grieving too, so vibes for them all please.

Thats the fourth darn cat do die of that terrible disease in less than 3 weeks! This is ridiculous! Something has to be done!

Aw Jenny, I'm so sorry - it is a horrible thing. When we lost Smudge there were several at the same time. I think it may be a winter disease in the Northern Hemisphere. I don't know, but it's so hard to see so many at once. RIP Whisper.

I'm so sorry your friend lost her sweet girl Whisper. My condolences to you and your friend and Sylvester.
