If your house was on fire and you could save only 5 things from your house (assuming your pets all got out) what 5 things would you save?

1) Beauty's brush
2) Beauty's food bowl
3) Beauty's water bowl
4) Beauty's litter tray
5) My crystals

1. My husband
2. As many of my photo albums as I could carry
3. My laptop
4. Selected files from file cabinet
5. Hubby's Stamps

(this is assuming, of course, that my cats were already safe)

I wouldn't have time to think about it and make a choice, and all my things are important to me, so I guess other than grabbing as many cats as possible, my pocketbook and some family photos, I'd just get the heck out of there as fast as I could.

I've had to be evacuated from our house in FIVE minutes, knowing everything we had was going to be lost from the raging waters that we coming towards our place. All we had time to get was a quick bag of clothes, my purse & the cats. All that other stuff just isn't important in a time like that. Trust me, its not.

My purse
My photos of Spooky and any other photos I could get my hands on
The antique kitchen clock that's been handed down for 5 generations
The jewelry my father has made for me
My grandmother's wedding dress

My cats would be the very first things I saved though!

My jewelry box.
Photos albums-I think I will stash a large plastic bag in that cupboard now.
Wallet/purse.
Clothes if possible
Personal files.

I've never really thought of this before on what to actually take.

Besides Ourselves, Our cats are most important to save but if they were safe, if it was possible we would try to save: 1) Cat Food 2) Coin Collection 3) Firebox 4) Purse/Wallet 5) Clothes if Possible

If John and all the cats and dogs were out and I had time.

1.) The stuffed animals that John bought me that mean a lot to me.
2.) At least one of our guitars.
3.) Laptop.
4.) My Grandma's bible.
5.) All the notebooks and important papers that I have... animal medical records and stuff like that.

Hmm
Assuming my babies were out safe:

Purse
Laptop
stuffed bear
Jewelry box
and
my chest with my year books in.

For everyone grabbing papers and things like that, I would recommend getting a fireproof file cabinet...then you wont have to worry so much about what you forgot.

Am I the only one who has thought of my spouse as something to rescue from the fire?
Or are we assuming that the spouse is safe?

We are assuming pets/husbands/wives/other relatives etc are safe.

Nope, it seems like your the only one who cares about the husband. The rest of us have a great life insurance plan I guess.

as long as my pets & humans were okay

1. Fire proof safe (containing pictures and important papers)
2. Some personal pictures on the wall
3. Purse
4. Computers
5. Some pet supplies

What a sad thing this is...unfortunately for some this has been a real problem, a real decision. I am not on meds, but if I was, that would be #2 on my list. They are hard to replace. I have two fire proof safes, they have nothing of value to criminals in them, but mainly pictures and memories, some important papers. The contents inside can get slightly wet under the right conditions, so inside of that everything is in plastic bags, just in case. I pray no one ever has to experience a fire in their home.
