Brad Paisley - Online

He's telling about how he lied online.

These lyrics found here:
http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/p...ine-22297.html

Quote:
I work down at the Pizza Pit
And I drive an old Hyundai
I still live with my mom and dad
I'm 5 foot 3 and overweight
I'm a scifi fanatic
A mild asthmatic
And I've never been to second base
But there's whole ‘nother me
That you need to see
Go checkout MySpace

'Cause online I'm out in Hollywood
I'm 6 foot 5 and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati
I'm a black-belt in karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns girls on that I’m mysterious...

Now, a fair number of us were through something here on TCS like this. I'm curious though.....in light of lying causing the death of a girl on MySpace, the lies here about the death of a member, how can we ever trust people online?

I dunno, I love the song....I'm a HUGE Brad Paisley fan, but I'm not thrilled with the lyrics. Thoughts? Opinions?

I kinda wonder if there have been any "issues" with the fact that he is openly talking about someone lying on MySpace? Some people could take that as Brad Paisley promoting lying online.

I think it is a cute country song...MOST artists are just that ARTISTS some write from experience but in country many pick songs written by someone else

Can you trust the people you know on-line? I suppose as much as you can trust people in real life.

Ted Bundy was a nice neighbor apparently.

Umm It's a song. And it was written and released a while ago. It's a song how people make them sound a lot better when they are talking to people on line. Watch the video,,,, it's hilarious!! I think you are really reading way too much into it.

Seeing as how I use online dating sites, I find the song and video hilarious. Quite a few of the bloggers, on my main site, have recommended the song. You can view the video on CMT's website.

It's merely a humorous look at the world of cyber-dating and NOT to be taken seriously.

I understand it isn't to be taken seriously....but I keep going back to the girl who killed herself recently because of MySpace. That was meant to be a joke, not to be taken seriously.

I love the song, still love Brad Paisely.....but what if someone takes it seriously?

people have issues, nothing you can do about that.

The MySpace case was a mean-spirited case of cyber-bullying.

As for dating sites, people routinely lie in their profiles. I get several communications, from Nigerian scammers, each week and one of my blogger friends is currently stringing along a Russian "dentist". One just has to learn to be cautious.

As for taking BP's song seriously - it's no more serious than any OTHER novelty song.

I agree completely.

I think the song is funny.

I agree with some of the others. It's a funny song and it's so true. You just can't trust people online. You don't really know any of them. Although, I do feel pretty safe on TCS. But it's also not a dating site, which is pretty much what his song is about.

Moral of the story. DON'T DATE ONLINE!

Dating online is fine, as long as one is cautious. I've been using online dating sites, for almost two years. Being a single woman, of a certain age and working odd hours, I don't have a lot of the usual resources for seeking companionship.

Did he even write the song? A large number of singers do not write their own songs, songwriters write them for the artists.

True, I would agree with you to a point. But there are a lot of precautions you need to take. The buddy system, meet in public only, check their record....
