I'm getting 2 new kittens and I have leather furniture. My concern is just with normal walking will their little claws put pin size holes in my furniture. I have a scratching post, but more worried about just normal everyday walking on the furniture.
What has been your experience with leather furniture and kittens?
TIA!

I would put sturdy covers over the furniture until they get over the mad dashing. They don't get good control over their claws for a while, and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Well, my kittens, who range in age from 18 years to 3 years young, don't bother my leather sofa and chairs a'tall, a'tall. I do have plenty of scratching posts, pads, and cat furniture all over the house; and actually, I think leather is the best choice for a catted house. Upholstery is asking for little claws to be hooked into; leather, never!

i don't know about furniture, but my max is in love with my leather purse and is always sniffing it which leads to licking it, which leads to biting it, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have a suede couch and it can withstand her paw-handling quite well!

Get some soft claws for the kittens. It should help prevent your furniture from being damaged and it's much more humane than declawing.

(For the record though- i have 4 cats and 2 dogs- the cats have never damaged our leather love seat- but the dogs have (not meaning to) with their thick claws. They make
soft claws for dogs too!)
