Nikita has been a lot calmer for the past few days. She spends ages sitting in front of the hole in the floor where the mice have come out and when I get back from work I see traces of a chase having been on, i.e things having fallen over or pushed out of place.

I've not seen or heard any mice since the one she caught last week and I've even tried leaving a slice of bread out to see what would happen and it didn't get eaten.

Nikita is really earning her keep now, not that she has to

So yeah a mouse infestation definitely helps when you have a very high energy active cat that needs lots of stimulation. Not that I would recommend it to people, heh...

Glad it has helped Nikita be more calm. I am thinking Jazz needs a mouse infestation. He is a very high energy cat. I think he must have bengal in his background somewhere. He has those trade mark spots on his underside.

There really is an upside to a mouse/rat infestation. Our town has been plagued by rodents ever since the introduction of garbage/"biodegradable waste" bins, with composting as the cheaper alternative. With so many fat rats and mice around, there's a big demand for cats, so few of the shelter's cats spend much time there.
