Piper had her spay surgery today. I just brought her home about an hour ago, and the poor thing is hurting so much!
She did get a painkiller at the vet's office, but she is not a happy girl. When she came out of her carrier, she tried to bend down to lick her shaved belly but stopped halfway and let out this long, moaning meow. My poor baby! I hope she's feeling better by tomorrow.

Did they not give you anything for her to take as a pain reliever there at home? If not, you might want to give them a call and mention it. Poor little girl. Just keep her warm and quiet, she'll be right as rain in a few days.

You've done a good and responsible thing ... congratulations! I hope you will remember to treat yourself to something special for being such a good Kitty Meowmmy.

Echoing the other posters' good thoughts
and sending my healing vibes along, too, for Piper -- thank you for doing the caring thing and getting her spayed!
May she feel much better soon
; and yes, I'd call the vet if she seems like she is in pain.
They may be able to help.

She refuses to drink any water, but she did eat a couple tablespoons of wet food that I offered her and has kept it down so far. She's been laying on my bed since we got home. I picked her up and put her by the litter box once, but she just clambered back up onto the bed. (She tried to jump
, but ended up using her claws to climb up the side until I helped her the rest of the way.) The vet's office is closed for the night, but if she still seems in pain tomorrow morning I will call them and see what they can give her.

Thanks for the vibes!

Your little girl is still under the influence of the anesthesia.
My kitties always get really agitated until the next day after surgery.
They just can't quite figure out what is going on.

It should be worn off by tomorrow morning.

Keep an eye on her and if you have any concerns at all,
don't hesitate to call your vet.

I'm sure you're right that she'll be feeling better tomorrow. I'm just surprised that she's having such a rough night. When I had Blue spayed she acted like nothing had even happened, except that she wasn't quite as acrobatic as usual for a few days. I guess they all react a little differently though, just like people. Thanks for your reply!
