This is my first year of participating in the TCS Secret Santa. I still haven't sent my gifts out. I was planning to wait until the beginning of December. Is that too late?

Also, we aren't supposed to tell our SS who we are when they receive our gifts? How do people find out who their SS is?

Are there any other unwritten rules that we SS newbies should know about or is there a thread I missed somewhere?

I was wondering about some of those same things as well! I am planning to mail my SS gift out next week
I was trying to decided if i wanted to put some hints in my package or just let my person figure it out- i think i'll go with putting hints in there!

Some people put cards inside last year saying who they were, some people put clues and some people put nothing at all and you had to work it out from the post mark or return address. It is completely up to you with no 'rules' about what to do with it

Well, le'ts see - I am a newbie, too. I think that on the original SS link -( you may have to go back a page or two, but it is the list that had all of the questions and answers )- there were lots of tips. Since I just got my SS present yesterday, I guess you aren't my SS -

I think that some people do reveal hints, etc. to help their giftee figure out who they are. I think that is what I will do. Since I have only been on the forum for a year, I really don't know very many people all that well. Some people open their presents right away and some wait - I like to wait and not stray over to the "dark side" - but that's just me! And don't worry, I have all of my gifts, but haven't started to wrap them yet!!! Fortunately mine are only going to #5GHN1@tHHH! That will only take a few days!

As long as your SS isn't half way across the world, then sending the pkg out in early December should be just fine

and like Eithne said, some give hints, some come right and say it and some are very very mysterious!

I put my name and return address on because I'd hate to have the parcel get lost in the mail system and not be able to be returned to me.

Bad experience one time - I sent my brother a Christmas package from Ontario Canada to New Brunswick Canada. I got his gift returned to sender (me) the following July. I don't know if he ever really believed I sent him a gift or not.

That's a good point! If I put my name and address on there, my SS probably still won't know which TCS member it's from.

I would say it's up to you whether to hint, but at some point it's nice to finally reveal yourself. Otherwise you might be responsible for driving someone crazy!
