Could you imagine the outrage from the Christian Right if a group of kids named their teddy bear Jesus in the U.S.?
Yes, I think this is being blown way out of proportion, but extreme sides do that in every country. People need to be more tolerant and more respectful, it works both ways.
If someone is going to a foreign country, they should be taught the customs, do's and don'ts out of respect for the people in that country.
When we went to Singapore, we noticed people handed their credit cards over by holding it with both hands, they didn't flip it out on the counter, it was a gesture of respect. We started doing it all the time. The other day, my DH gave his credit card this way to an Indian woman at a local store and she bowed to him. The world could use a lot more of this.
