Of those of you who have the litterbox in the bathroom, how many of your cats will follow you in and use the litterbox while you're doing your business? Junior will do this at least 1/2 of the time. I'm not sure if he's just trying to be near me or if he sees me, then sees the litterbox, then thinks "Hey, that's a good idea!". The only time it bothers me is when he leaves me a little present.

Also, when I flush the toilet one of three things will happen. If Junior is in the litterbox at the time, he completely ignores it. But if Junior is in the room when I flush he will either dart out of the room or will walk over and watch the water swirl in the bowl.

Abby does it consistently. Chynna only sometimes. I like the fact that Abby does it. I think she's dyslexic because she goes in and forgets to turn around and often over shoots the edge of the box. If she's going when I'm in the bathroom, I can reach over and shove her butt further in so she piddles in the box and not on the floor.

Zoe follows me in to the bathroom ALOT (she seems to think I need her help)
and she does decide to do her business "while she's there" quite often.

I once had a cat, Juniper. who always followed me in each morning when we both got out of bed, and he would go into his box while I did my thing. Often, he would do the same when I brushed my teeth at night. Now, I don't have a litter box in the bathroom as there is still work going on there and I am keeping the cats out unless I am there, but Wellington and Bonaparte both love to watch the bowl flushing.

I don't have the litterbox in the bathroom, but Seamus always supervises when I go in there to do my business. The litterbox is in this room, which just has the computer, a dresser, his box and an extra ironing board for him to lounge on when I'm in here for a while. He went through a phase where he would wait for me to get home and do his business when I sat to check my email. He's stunk me out of the room a few times!

And the flush, sends Seamus running out of the room like a madman... he hates the sound.

Raven often does this, she also comes running if she hears me scooping and absolutely has to get in the box and go while I am trying to scoop. She also loves to watch the bowl swirl!

it just sounds like it has become part of his routine,as normal and vital to him as breathing-cats often are very routine based.

Watching the robins sing!
All three of my kids tend to follow me into the bathroom - even if they are sleeping, at least Cosmo and Mollie come in to hang out. Cosmo will ist next to me and "nip" at my legs - I have no idea why he does that - but he also will jump in the shower for a minute when I am in the shower, as well. But mostly, I think they come in to hang out with me - and Cosmo likes to watch the swirling water!

Both of mine. It's ridiculous. Half the time they don't even have to go, but if I'm in there, one or the other of them will want to use the box. (They don't go to the box if they don't have to go any other time, so I KNOW it's because I'm there.) Silly cats!

Knee deep in cat litter
We have our litter boxes in a closet close to the bathroom. The only thing about my using the restroom and our cats is that I am not allowed to close the door. They sit outside and meow and shove their paws under the door. Either they love me so much that they can't stand being separated from me for a min. or they are afraid that the "water" thing is going to suck me down into it if they are not there to protect me.

Whenever I'm in the bathroom, Zane will pound on the door and yowl to get in.

The bathroom is at the head of the stairs. One day he came charging up the stairs in what I call 'full cheetah mode' and took a flying leap into the bathtub. Which had about an inch of water in it at the time. He never did that again.

He used to sleep in the sink, but the door blew shut one day and trapped him inside for a long time, so he doesn't do that now.
