smurglers???

Just wondering who else has cats that 'smurgle' (sp??) and where they do it!!

The siamese I adopted is obssesed with ear lobes!!! Every night he will NOT go to bed until i've let him crawl his very dainty 16 pound body onto my chest and he attacks my ear lobes while violently kneading my face and neck!!! it makes me crack up everytime, he purrs like a truck while he is doing it!!

It is also a requirement in the morning before I can get up or else he protests very loudly so I allow it, especially because after I let him attack my ear lobes he lets me scoop him up beside me in a big bear hug and if i'm not ready to get our of bed he'll lay beside me with his head on my pillow!!!

I know some other peoples cats smurgle and suckle and knead fingers, blankets etc. just curious about other peoples kitties!!!

Links does it on the back of my neck and in my hair. It actually drives me nuts, but he eventually falls asleep up there!!

My 16 pounder Yowdy who is a Siamese is the champion smurgler..each night as soon as my head hits the pillow he is up in the crook of my neck smurgerling my neck and hair. PURRRRR kneed ,kneed and Purrrrrr. And then in the morning as soon as I'm awake hes back for round two..Then I have to go and detangle my hair..That side looks like it has been teased!

Olivia, my Mom's cat, suckles and kneads blankets. Mooch kneads my stomach and chest and Noodles goes for my stomach or lap. Oh and she drools or something while she does it too. Sometimes she goes for a bunched up blanket too.

Aristotle will "kiss" your cheek and knead your chest. Nothing like a cold kitty nose to snap you out of a sound sleep.

My baby Mia does it about once a month. Last time she got so into it and went on forever. She was kneeding on my neck and poking her face around in my hair. It was sooo cute. The content look on her face was priceless. I also believe she has Siamese or Oriental shorthair relatives.

Chynna does sort of. She loves to get up on the pillow next to my head with her face about 1/4" from mine and give me nose kisses while I scratch her chin and cheeks. Her little front paws make that kneading motion and she purrs up a storm.

Poppet kneads a lot, and suckles and kneads her woolen blanket that's in her bed. Snowball on the other hand, merely kneads the blanket, and nothing else. Poppet also drools. *Sigh* It's not nice when you realise your hand is wet!

funny that i replied to this message today...mia and i just had a little smurgling session. i picked her up and was giving her some love and soon she was burying her face all around in my hair over my shoulder. she bit my earlobe a few times but has finally settled down on my chest/stomach for a little nap. of course her sister got jealous and was pawing at us but what can i do...she doesnt like to be held nearly as much as mia...

Blossom kneads, sometimes when she comes to bed with us. I think its very cute & every cat I've had, has been a kneader.

my Pooka kneeds--all the time!! she also headbutts me! she will kneed (we call it making biscuits) on my lap or chest then settle down and hold my hand in her paws and "groom" lick me until she feels that I have been throughly cleaned. After that I am free to pet her again. It is so funny!! Oh and she of course purrs like crazy the whole time!

smurgle? haha

chloe does this all day long and will not go even one night without climbing onto my neck and "making bread" on my neck. It's pretty annoying but I adore her so I allow it.. haha, I'm such a sucker

o and if I'm wearing earrings? I'm doomed basically

Sam's my smurgler. When we go to bed, up he jumps up and he likes to knead and suckle on my pajama top near the neck. He loves this time of year when the flannel 'jams come out. He purrs the entire time, until he gets tired. Then he puts his head on my neck and goes to sleep. Now if I'm not in the mood for this, he'll approach from the back, suckle on my pajama collar and then fall asleep on the back of my neck. At some point, after I'm asleep, he leaves to go roll jingly balls with Pru on the wood floors.

OK- I am kind of getting the picture of what "smurgling" is. But what is the classic definition?

Mi-ke's always suckled on me. I should have known something was up, really, when I saw her at the shelter. She and her siblings pinned another sibling and started trying to suckle his tummy. She suckles on my chest, although not where she "ought" to be, so to speak, which obviously wouldn't fly (a thousand times over). It's higher up, and it's only when I'm in my nightshirt/pajamas. She'll also do it around my stomach if I'm sitting, but again, I have to be dressed for bed for her to respond. She sometimes gets in bed with me to do it, and I put the covers over her. Of course, she's also kneading her claws into my chest, so it's sort of painful...

Tora obsessively licks my hands and arms sometimes, but he doesn't suck on anything.
