ok i've seen these in multiple threads and i checked on local store for such things and no luck.....so three simple questions

1) what exactly are they
2) where do most people get them
3) do they actually work?? my little girl is compliant for everything but pills!! and she is crafty!!!

1. Pill Pockets are semi-soft treats that have an opening in the middle. You put the pill in the opening and then pinch the side closed so that the pill is encased. They come in chicken and salmon flavors: http://www.pillpockets.net/index_fs.htm
2. Lots of pet stores carry them, including PetSmart and possibly Petco.
3. I haven't personally used them--I just pry open my cats' mouths and stuff the pill as far back as can, holding their mouth closed (gently but firmly) until they swallow. Then I give them a treat or food afterward. I think they would probably work rather well for cats that love treats. I've heard the best thing to do is to give one or two without the pill first before trying to stuff the pill inside.

I have used them. They worked for Bea "ok". She's no dummy and she learned pretty quickly that there was medicine inside them. I've had better luck liquifying and using a dropper...

I would try to use them again with one of the other kittens though if the situation arose

I've used them with great success. I fostered one cat that loved them and would gobble them up whole with the pill inside. For my others, they won't eat just the PP but I still find them useful. I put the pill inside and pinch it closed. I remove as much excess as I can leaving just enough to cover the pill and to roll it into a small ball. I bury it in their wet food and they gobble it up without even noticing. The PPs are a little oily so rolling them into a small ball makes them very easy to swallow.

Someone in these forums says they coat pills with butter and give them that way. I'm going to try that the next time I need to give pills.

I am a firm believer in pill pockets! None of my cats have ever refused them, and they've always worked for me to get the pills down. My kitties love them so much that they all come running as soon as I open the bag.

My daughter uses them and she thinks they are really a good idea.
