I'm back again frustrated as I've discussed this with my vet.

I have three cats:
  • Much is slowly losing weight, about 1/2 oz per month. She is down to 9lbs 4oz. But her bloodwork is great for a 14 year old cat and she doesn't have any illnesses.
  • Carly was underweight when we got her but she is now round. She is still gaining weight and is now 12 lbs 4oz. Here's a picture of her.

  • Lucy is still gaining and is now 13lbs 4oz. The vet said he wants to see her stay below 13lbs.
We have tried to do the scheduled feedings but I don't think that Much is eating enough so we've been leaving Wellness Healthy Weight dry out for everyone to eat. Much and Carly get a quarter can each of Wellness wet twice a day. That is about what they will eat in a setting. We are now adding about a quarter can of Wellness wet kitten food to Much's wet for more calories.

Meanwhile, Lucy is eating Purina UR because she has had a bladder stone in the past and that is the only thing she will eat. She will eat a teaspoon of wet about 2-3 days. This has been scheduled feedings because it is primarily corn and I don't want Carly gorging on it.

We've been with the vet office for a long time and it is a cat-only hospital, but the vet we originally starting seeing is not seeing patients any more and the current vet we're seeing is recommending stuff that has corn as the first ingredient.

I feel like I'm failing them because it all seems out of control. I think I'm giving them an eating disorder.

Does anyone have any advice?

I would try a reg dry ... most wt controls are HIGHER in carbs and LOWER in protein and fat ( ie what kitties really need) .....

yeah for some reason stones and corn dont like eachother

Hmmm, I have a cat named Booboo who is 7 years old and is 15.4 lbs. The vet says he's just big cause he's big. He has been at this weight for years and had never lost or gained an ounce. He gets Hills Science Diet CD (he has bladder issues) and thats all he can eat! I give him anything else and he gets a UTI. The vet says that the food is really good and it would help him lose weight if he needed to. (he's a very llloooonnnggg kitty!)

C/D is a great food for crystals and some UTI cats but ingrediant wise it is carb filled and not likely to aid in wt control

I can empathsize with the too heavy/too thin/ too many to feed special diets frustration.

I don't know if this is possible but will Much eat if she is in a separate room? Maybe see if you can add an extra feeding just for her. ( not sure what your feeding schedule is, but maybe add one when you get home from work or just before bed)

I found with my weight gainers, I just can't feed them dry food. They get fat on it even when given less than 1/2 cup a day. I felt like I was starving them and they were not losing any weight. Switching to all wet food (actually all homemade) has made all the difference in the world.

I 100% agree with Sharky, the carbs are the problem. My two heaviest gained weight on the supposed diet food. If you have to leave out a dry what about one of the newer "grain free" dry foods? I am not sure if they would be O.K. for a UTI prone kitty though.

If you can give Much an extra feeding then maybe you can stop leaving the dry out all day for Carly and Lucy.
