Neutering question

Hi, I have a question about neutering my cat. He is getting it done today but I am worried about when he gets home because I have another cat that is very bitchy about cats she doesn't know (she is spayed BTW). In fact my cousins cat came to live with us for a good 6 months and she would stalked and growled at him none stop (luck for us and him he was an inside/outside cat and most of the time he was here it was nice out). Anyway I heard that after a cat is neutered there smell changes. Will my other cat is recognize him when he gets home?

The other cat may respond to the vet smell- you can help this out by taking a small amount of vanilla and putting a dab under each cat's nose so they smell neutral, also put a small dab on the neutered cat's back near the tail to help carry the scent when they sniff each other.

Just a little update. I got him back from the vet about 2 hours ago cause they made him stay overnight. Anyway I let him out and I swear it was like he never left. No hissing or growling between them or anything. Even though he keeps looking up at and starts to purring very loudly The only bad thing is they discovered he has ear mites so I have to give him ear drops 3 times a week for 4 weeks
