I need some help. I'm making myself a big floor pillows and some smaller pillows too.

I just finished making the large pillow (wow... that took a lot of stuffing!!!
) and now I need to make a zippered cover for it. How do I make sure that the cover fits? Should it be exactly the same size as the pillow?
I did something like that once before, and I made the cover the same size (or so I thought) and the cover ended up being way too big.
Logically, it seems impossible to me. I must have made a mistake while measuring, right?

If you still have the template for the main pillow, use that, but add about 1cm all the way around, that way, it won't be quite as tight as the pillow is and so it will be easy to remove and wash.

sounds liek you don't have a pattern?

I would just measure the cover like you were wrapping a present and leave an extra 1/2 inch (or 1-2 cm) to allow for the seam.

I haven't made pillows in years. Sounds like fun!

No I don't have a pattern. I had about 2m of white fabric for the pillow, folded it in half and sewed it.

I'll try to just drape the grey fabric on top to measure it. Good idea.

Now I just need to remember how to do zippers.

It might be easier to use velco or how about sewing on some ties and tie it shut instead??

Do you have a tape measure? Just use that to measure across the pillow, then add a little for seams.
