Trying out various litters at the moment, and we found ourselves with a big bag of World's Best Cat Litter. "Once you've tried this, you'll never buy anything else" the sales rep told us.

The cats love it. In fact they love it so much that they chewed a great big hole in the bag and started eating it

Now my cats are pigs, but I have NEVER had a problem with them eating litter or non-food items before. This is a complete one off, but it obviously smells nice and tasty to them! I know the stuff is made of corn and shouldn't cause a problem, but has anyone else experienced this?

For me, so far, so good.

I'm currently trying a bag in the bedroom, and the WB is mixed with some Tidy Cats - I didn't want to change the whole thing out at once as the texture and weight of the WB is quite different than the TD.

The other half of the WB bag is simply folded near the box - so far, no signs of anyone thinking it's a treat.

My cats are freaks, I always knew it

The bag is wrecked, there is a big hole and the rest of it is like a sieve! I have had to shut it in the cupboard to keep them out of it. Thankfully the one litterbox I'm trying with that litter is being used in the normal fashion

I don't think we'll be getting it again, it was a nightmare getting them off the bag, and it's horrendously expensive - I'd rather buy cheaper litter and save the money for good quality food!

It was my turn to scoop today, and I have to say OMG!!!!! No matter that it's 3x more expensive than the pine stuff I've been using, the difference in dealing with the litterboxes was worth every penny. So little waste! That bag is going to last me a lot longer than any other litter I've tried, that's it, I'm done with soggy pine clumps
The odour control is fantastic too, I was on my hands and knees scooping it and couldn't smell a thing where usually I'm gagging (the smell of cat urine just turns my stomach so badly!)

Now where to buy the stuff, I know it's even more expensive in Pets@Home

I was thinking about trying that stuff. I haven't seen it in the Pets At Home in Exeter..... why do I keep missing stuff in there? I'm going to try the internet and buy in bulk. Have you ever used CatSan Hygiene Litter? Thats what I use at the moment, it's £3.50 for 10l in Tesco. Just want to know what it's like in comparison. I'd like to try a clumping litter.

Yeah, if I could afford to use WBCL, I'd use it exclusively. It is great stuff. I used the extra strength formula with very good results. Great clumping and odor control, especially if you can handle the corn scent. I also loved the fact that it was flushable. When I was keeping the kittens in the bathroom that was an obvious plus.

The cheapest place to get it here is petsmart (not sure if they have that in the UK) you can get the big bag for right at $1 a pound (when it's on sale). Oh, also, I emailed the parent company that makes WBCL and they sent me 2 coupons for $1 off a bag and a coupon for a FREE small bag. Not sure if they'd have coupons specifically for the UK, but it would be worth a shot.

I have also used chicken feed in place of WBCL (layer granules or crumbles, although I've heard purina "flock raiser" is the best) and it works pretty well. Doesn't clump as hard as WBCL and doesn't have the odor controling stuff in it, but for $10 for 50lbs, I just added some baking soda to it.

If you like world's best but not the cost try picking up a bag of corn cob bedding and see how you like it. Most petstores or feedstores carry it. World's best is just ground up corn that is probably heat treated. Corn cob bedding is just corn cobs that have been ground up. Nearly the same thing. Same texture, same smell, same absorbency, but 1/10th the cost. The corn cob might not clump as well, I didn't notice much difference, and molds slightly easier if you don't clean it out frequently enough but it takes a couple days for that. It's probably a difference in how it's cured. Another similar option which is what I'm using now is chicken layer crumbles. Again it's ground up corn but with a few other grains added. Doesn't clump very well and has a slightly stronger grainy smell but otherwise it's the samee except I get it for about $5 for 50lbs so I don't care that I have to throw a little more out when scooping instead of sifting it back into the box.

I switched to the layer crumbles a couple months ago too (clay dust seemed to be irritating both the boys eyes
). I don't particularly like it...
First night switched to it, Sho was confused and did try eating it. Tomas was unsure and had to complain at me first, but did use it -that was enough of a hint for Sho figured it out. No one has tried eating it since, and they both use the same spots for peeing in so I just scoop those out completely.
Luckily winter took care of my meal moth problem.

Unfortunately the local walmart and kmart are smaller and don't carry as much options for litter, and I can't make 130+ mile trips just to try stuff out.

I use WBCL exclusively
With nearly 20 cats, I seriously can't imagine using anything else frankly!

My faith in WBCL was reinforced this past week when I cat-sat for our neighbour who uses clay litter. When she came over yesterday to get her key back I "introduced" her to our litter boxes with WBCL and gave her a starter bag. It does cost more but I only have to completely change out and wash our litter pans about once every 6-8 weeks and even then it's not because there is an odour, it's more that I think I should so essentially WBCL is really costing me less than her clay litter that she has to change far more frequently to keep odour down.

oh alright! ya'll have convinced me to try this stuff

I hope no one tries to eat it
I have a couple cats that will try to eat anything not nailed down.... and even if it is nailed down they give it a good go!

What about dust?

I tried a bag of it awhile back and it was incredibly dusty. I'm wondering if I just had bad luck and ended up with a bag of really small particles.

When the cats dug around in the box, a cloud of dust would surround them.

So far, so good for me with the WBCL. It is slightly dusty, but overall I think I'd rather breathe in corn dust than clay/silica dust.

I'm in the middle of switching the litterbox in my bedroom over, and I'm waking up with fewer sinus headaches, and I am already noticing that there is not as much of a "catbox odor" as there was before I started to use it.

My biggest determination will be: how long does one bag last? I'd rather spend more per bag, but less per month overall.

I use 4 Boxes (not bags) a month for my crew! I don't know how that translates to savings but it works for me
I used to use a brand called OKO Plus and that cost me more per month than this....

I recently paid $20 USD for a 17 pound bag of the extra strength WBCL, and I pay just around $7 for a bag of WalMart's Special Kitty clumping clay with crystals, or $12 for a 30-35 pound box of Arm & Hammer.

So the WBCL is REALLY pricey when you look at it that way - roughly twice the cost for about half as much. Because I'm still mixing the clay and the WBCL, I can't calculate whether or not I'd see much for savings over time yet - plus I just started using it within the last two weeks in a box that isn't used as regularly as two others that are in higher cat traffic areas.

Really? Then I should think I'm getting a pretty fab deal, considering that the USD is only half of the British Pound. Huh.

WBCL is awesome, it works wonders in my litter robot, I never imagined cat litter would be so easy. I was a little annoyed by the corn odor, so I added 3 TBS of arm and hammer in it, so far so good.

Feel lucky that they can eat as much they want without getting sick since it's organic and flushable... imagined if they ate crystals or clay litter. My !

Does that work well?? The odor bugs me too. So does the odor from Swheat scoop, which we're using now. I really hated that corn smell.
