I've never had an artichoke in my life! Are they good? What do they taste like?

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, I just wanted to say I
artichokes!!

No recipes, just steam them and serve with a dipping sauce (like garlic butter)!

artichokes are my favorite veggie!!!!!!!! Every year for my birthday, I have chicken fried steak, artichokes, and potatoes! I just boil them for about 45 minutes in water, with a little vinegar or lemon juice to keep them green, then I dip them in butter or mayonaise

I love artichokes. They are so yummy. My mom used to make them just stuffed and baked which I can do, but I wanted to try something new. I'll let you guys know how they turn out, ok?

Oh, and Debby if you've never had one just try them some day, you'll probably like them. Lots of garlic!!!

My favorite too! MMMMM! And I found an article recently that artichokes are the only source of silymarin that is showing great success in fighting cancer by inhibiting tumor growth! Let's see if I can find it again... ok not yet but I found this page which is really interesting http://www.vegparadise.com/highestperch48.html
aha, here is the one about cancer - http://www.cancerdecisions.com/021902.html
I found a ton more all about how great they are for you!

I usually steam them and have them with garlic mayo (aoli)
although occassionally I will halve them and grill them over fire and serve with aoli and salsa. Mmm!

The only time I have been able to eat an artichoke is in a dip. Of course it's covered with sour cream, cheeses, and salts:tounge2:

Debby - I see them at the Super Walmart in the produce section (what don't they have at Super Walmart?!) Otherwise most grocery stores carry canned (jars) artichoke hearts which are fine for dips--although I stick with the ones in jars rather than actual cans.

They are good on a sauceless pizza with roma tomatoes, cheese, and any other veggie of your liking.
