Alfie was our family pet, I have so many happy memories of him misbehaving while I was growing up, like the time he ate part of a candle, ate the chocolates from the Christmas tree, chewing up tissue boxes when he was a puppy and always finding the stinkiest water to go swimming in.
Alfie had a long and happy life, he was spoilt rotten and loved being near us but he always waited by the door for mum to return if she was out. The house will definitely seem different without him.
Alfie was an old man he lost his hearing and had stiff legs, but was happy and doing just fine, he loved his walks and food, about 2 months ago the vet found a cancourous lump, and gave him a year to live, he was doing fine up to about 2 weeks ago where he became unhappy and lost condition, so my parents made the decision to put him to sleep.
I feel a bit sad I wasnt able to see him at the end (he is in England and I am in the US) I last saw him in July and he was a happy healthy old dog, I knew there was a chance that it was the last time I would see him so I did say my good byes to him back then, but I still feel sad.
