i cannot get the mats off my cat, any good ideas I can cut them close
but of course I do not want to get close to the skin i have a few different brushes, but a few mats are beyond that any ideas out there, I do not want to pull on them or cut any closer, its not that bad a few on each side by her hips
it has to bother her, thanks for any input

If she's super calm, you could try to use a comb, not a bristle brush, to gently comb them out. But, if they're beyond combing, then you'll have to resort to scissors. If they're too close to the skin, then you may have to take your kitty to a professional groomer to get the matted fur shaved off.
I hope you don't need to resort to that though, good luck!

seam ripper? what is that? and how much are they,, the mats are not big
you cannot really see them, it is not like they are hanging all over her
I would beleive they are pulling on her skin though, I have a few mat removal brushes they are not doing the job... thanks

Seam rippers

They are a much safer way to cut closer to the skin... and brilliant! Why didn't I think of those?! You can pick on up really cheap at most superstores, fabric or craft stores.

Trust me, if they hurt her she'll let you know when you try to groom them out.

The seam ripper is a great idea. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but my internet was down for a few days.
Thanks goodness Hissy was on the ball!
