I have seen that! It does help cats digestion alot when their food bowls are elevated. My Siamese, Hercules, used to get the hiccups alot when his bowls were right on the floor. Now that they're higher up, he doesn't get the hiccups!

P.S
Where abouts in B.C do you live? I am in Surrey!

yknow, i was hoping elevating their food would help my cat Kenya digest a bit better --
she has been throwing up a lot lately , and there haven't been any hairballs, i'm wondering if
she's having problems digesting...

maybe she has been eating too much. we used to free-feed, but have decided to put them on
a schedule and see how it goes.

I'm starting to wonder if I should try to use something like this for Asim.

Every once in a while.. a GREAT while he will puke his food back up. He just did for his breakfast this morning. I fed him the same way and the same amount that I always do, he eats at the same speed he always does.
But now he puked and then walked off to go to sleep on his pillow for a little bit. He's up and sitting on the back of a chair right now however.

Do you think perhaps Asim could benifit from a bowl like this, or all 3 of my cats perhaps?

well i certainly think it's worth a try.

you could try elevating the dishes you're using right now with something makeshift and see if there's improvement.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe a phone book or two?
What is the appropriate height suppose to be?

the height in the photo looks appropriate... i suppose whatever height is most comfortable for them, with the least amount of bending forward.

The healthy care feeder is 5-1/2" high. e a wooden frame I was thinking of making a wooded bowl holder. 2 phone books stacked together would be perfect! Try it out and see what happens!

Blue,
The home invasions down here are getting really violent. A senior lady was hit in the head and is still in the hospital. I can't believe someone would do something like that. It's scary to live just minutes away from a house that was invaded.

I've always wondered if it's really necessary, especially when you consider that wild cats eat off the ground all the time. But some of those cats are lying on their belly when they eat, so maybe just putting food on a plate would suffice. On the occasions we feed our cats in the kitchen (we usually don't, because our dog won't stay out of it) we'll quite often just put it on a plate and they'll usually just crouch down to eat it, rather than stand. Just my thoughts!
