Greetings all. A friend just told me about this place - and I've been having fun checking it all out today! After many years of not having any pets, I took in a stray female last week. Hubby and I had been talking about adding a male kitten, so I ended up with an older female who may be pregnant.

So...okay....take her to the Vet - get her checked out, but primarily to see if she is pregnant. $87 dollars later, I know she doesn't have fleas, ticks, worms, feline leukemia or feline HIV, does have ear mites, has not been spayed, but still don't know if she's pregnant or not!

Her name is Pixie, and time will tell on the kitten issue. The vet says she's 1 - 2 years old, and that her "belly bump" might be kittens...but if so....it's too early in the pregnancy to tell for sure. In any event, all shots are being withheld until a later date, just in case.

Looking forward to getting to know y'all.

Shemarie

Welcome to the forums and good luck with your new cat! It's wonderful that you took her in.

If she is pregnant are you going to keep any of the kittens?

I took in a pregnant female last April - she had her kittens in the cupboard under my stairs and things were a bit mad for a while to say the least - with four kittens running around, plus my six month old dog whom I'd only just adopted two weeks before the kittens arrived. It's a great experience though and lets you really bond with the kittens, the two I kept are really tame and trusting and get on great with the dog.

Thanks for the welcome! And yes....I've all ready laid claim to "pick of the litter" - if there is indeed a litter. Pretty sure there will be. In addition to keeping Pixie, of course.

Hi! I'm pretty new myself, but welcome!

I think it's wonderful that you are giving a home to Pixie, especially because she is (possibly) pregnant. If you hadn't found her and she is pregnant, just think of all of the kittens that might end up multiplying.

Post pics! Would love to see them.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, everyone. I did post one pic of Pixie so far - and found out that I have a torti. I've been busy running around here learning about torti's, and tortitudes, and have a whole new understanding of this strange little cat hubby brought home.
She's still "swelling up" - so it does indeed look like babies are heading my way. Will go post another pic now...I finally got her to show off her green eyes....which kept turning out yellow in the earlier pics. But I've noticed other green-eyes seem to do that in photos, also....so guess it's not just a "pixie witch" thing.
