I went to see one of my ex fosters last night - I mentioned him on my foster update thread, but will put it in here too - this time 3 years ago, he had been in my house 4 days, and was really on a bit of a trial to see if he could come round in a home environment, we couldnt decide if he was semi-feral or just a very scared domestic, but he was petrified at CP to the point he weed when I said hello to him (he was fine at my house though, he had an accident on the way here, but nothing after that), he slowly came round at mine, but when he was rehomed 5 months later, he still wasn't fully ready, but was attacking my cats, so we had to rehome him. It was the best thing we did for him, he went to someone as an only cat (he doesnt like sharing) and with someone who was pretty much retired, so around all the time, and he continued to improve. When I spoke to her last month, she said he was as 'normal' as he will get, and when i went to see him last night, he was a bit iffy at first, and ran into the front room (he was in his cat bed in the hallway - the same one he left here with!!), but quickly came round and allowed me to stroke him - and even sniffed and headbutted me, something that I never thought he would do - it is obvious how much he loves his mum, he rubs round her legs and sits on her as much as he can!! And to make things even better, he jumped on my knee!!! Stayed there for a while, until his mum was trying to get his attention for a photo and he jumped off (I dind't want to stop him in case he didn't like it), but after a while she put him down to come back to me, he was just sat next to me, so I decided to see what would happen if I picked him up, and he let me pick him up and put him on my knee - then he curled up and went to sleep!! He truly is a wonderful cat now, and it is lovely seeing him happy to sleep on knees, and be picked up when if I hadn't taken him on 3 years ago, he would have spent the winter in an outside pen, then a farm home found - he is a poor hunter, so might have struggled on a farm!! I did get some pics, I shall post them tonight.

It was absolutely fantastic, if I hadn't offered to take him on, he would have been on a farm now, and he loves his home comforts. I had a bad day at work yesterday, so it was extra nice to go and see a cat that 3 years ago couldnt be touched, and have him love fusses, and sit on my knee of his own accord - the pic his owner took of him on my knee will be proudly displayed for a while, when he left me (3 years ago next March), he was still untouchable. A lot of his progress, i.e sitting on other people's knees and eating out of hands have only been in teh past couple of months, so I am very honoured. i wish there could be more success stories too, I hate to think of hte ones we can't help.
