Hey people,

I am looking after a kitty which i had rescued and i would like some of your advice on a few things.

Firstly i will give you a little info on the kitty. She is about 4 weeks on now and i've had her for a little over a week now. Gernerally she is playful and very cheeky. I got her on formula at the moment which i feed her 4 times a day.
Now a few problem questions.
1.When should i introduce kitty litter? I tried last nite by she went to eat it even though i gave her a hand.

2.Why does she try to clime my pants even though she is full and even when i hold and candle her?

3.I know she is just to jumpy in the house, trying to climb every where, chewing on things etc..
How can i stop this? i try taping her nose and saying no but that only works for a minute or so.

Thanks.

Hi, welcome to The Cat Site!

Your kitten is acting just like she's supposed too and well, no you can't stop it. Best thing is enjoy her kitten crazies while you can because she will out grow it in a couple of years (some kittens slow down sooner).
Get some toys for her to use some of her energy with. Trailing a piece of string for her to play with is fun for both of you. Just put the string up after playtime so she can't swallow it.

She climbs up your leg for company and attention. I live in jeans during this time. As another CS member said: blue jeans = armour.

She should have a litter box available all the time so she can learn to use it. A non-clay based litter is safest. Where has she been going potty? Put a little of her poop in the box to help her get the idea of what it's for.

Good for you to take on this little baby and give her a loving home.

Hmmm she already got my good work pants.

On my floor boards, she has only poo poo twice that i have since but wee wee is every 2-3 hours. I have heard kitter litter is not good for young kittens???? Would she be ok even if she eats it??

The first week i got her i took time off work so she gets used to the change but now i need to get back to work. Will she be ok with my basement with a few toys???(She also sleeps there)

I usually keep little kittens in my bathroom where there isn't so much stuff they can harm. I leave a carrier in there for them to sleep in.

Toys are a good idea, too. They will play with stuff like hair elastics, thread spools, bottle caps, make-up sponges, ball-point pen tops, and crumpled balls of paper or aluminum among all kinds of other things.

They ALL want to climb up legs. I think they just see them as an interesting challenge and a way to get attention.

Clumping kitty litter is very bad for kittens, but I think the regular kind is OK. Usually they figure it out by themselves pretty fast. If she's too small to climb into the box you have, try using an aluminum roasting pan or cake pan at first.

Thanks for taking care of the little rapscallion! She bring you many hours and even years of smiles.

It's fine little white pebble looking litter, would that be ok?
I got her to wee in it twice today but she still wee weed in the lounge another 4 times.
any advice on putting a stop to that?

Is it ok to leave her lock in my basement while i am at work??? even if the weather is hot???? ( approx 9 hours) Also when i get back i usally give her a warm to cool drizzle with water to cool her down, is that ok?
