We have had our cat about 3 years and moved two months ago and now our cat has a habit of waking us up around 6 a.m. She has open window access to outside but will make a racket trying to climb window screens all over the house. And when our young daughter gets up she will attack her trying to bite her ankles. We're ready to take her back to the pound. Any ideas???
Thanks!

I hope you do not abandon her as adoption should be a life commitment and she should be a beloved family member as important as any other. If you abandon her, chances are high that she will lose her life, absolutely senselessly; at best, she will have the same feelings as a person would have at being abandoned once again. There must be other cats or other animals outside in the morning whom she's interested in. Why not try letting her sleep in one room, with her food, water, litterbox, toys, and bed with clean, soft bedding? That way there won't be any issues with children, and she will probably not be so upset.

Is it possible she is either:

1. Hungry

2. Bored and wanting attention?

I find that if my cats are not adequately doted upon the night before, there will be pre-alarm clock issues. Especially with my youngest.

Also, if a cat is hungry, they will do just about anything to see that their meow-parents get up.

And I also hope you do not give up the little dumpling. I'm sure with patience, love, and attention, the problem will resolve itself.

Since this new behavior has begun after your recent move I bet she is having some difficulty adjusting to her new environment. Cats don't like a lot of change in their life.

She has open window access to outside but will make a racket trying to climb window screens all over the house. And when our young daughter gets up she will attack her trying to bite her ankles.
If it was her habit to go outside through an open window each morning and now she's not perhaps she is afraid of another cat or animal in your vicinity.

Moving can sometimes be very difficult for a cat and it will take her some time to adjust. Please don't abandon her - you are her family.
