I just want to complain about those people out there who tell me things like, "why don't you just get another cat", "you have allergies, why don't you get rid of your cat" and "well, you had him for 16 years and that's a long time". Just this morning, someone I consider a work friend told me I should "get rid of the cats" if my daughter has allergies. I hadn't told her about Lyndsey. I know all the reasons people do and say what they do and most of the time I can over look it. But sometimes, I just want to tell them to stop for a minute and think about what they are saying before they say it. You know what I mean?

I know what you mean! I'm allergic to cats as well, and I'm sure you've noticed I have three of them
Even my doctor can't understand why I wouldn't get rid of them.

I just say to everyone "would you take your children to a shelter if they did something you didn't like?"

My brother is the same way. And so are two of my other favorite people. I don't know what it is -- there's just something about the bond between us and our critters that seems to be unfathomable to people who haven't experienced it.

Athough we sometimes had cats when I was a kid, they were always outdoor-only cats (we didn't know any better 'way back then), and you just don't have as much of a chance to develop a relationship that way. So when I brought Clyde home a few years ago, he was my very first indoor kitty, and it was a completely new experience for me! I'd had no idea how incredibly close we would become.

I am so grateful I am not allergic to cats. That would kill me, I know I would do whatever it takes tokeep them. I am allergic to fragrances, and it is easy to live without that, but never my cats. IN fact, when I was younger and dating, I would not date someone allergic to cats. How bad is that?

Not bad at all!
Thinking that way is more than wise.

Some people just don't understand, and never will.
There's no point in trying to explain it to them, b/c they don't get it.
I used to get into heated discussions w/ people like that
Now I just walk away from people who say things like, "Well it's just a cat!" etc...
