Is city tap water ok to fill a bowl with and have a cat drink that? Or does the chlorine or whatever chemicals affect her???
Actually it's been proposed for that to stop being added due to children getting fluoride poisoning, so I'm not entirely sure that it would be a bonus for a cat's health...Originally Posted by emmylou
Sure, tap water is fine. If your area's water is fluoridated, that's an added bonus for the cat's teeth.
Cloudy water, if you're referring to the white gypsum, isn't harmful... unless you're a water heater. Your body can (and probably your cats too) use the calcium in the water.Originally Posted by babyharley
but I don't give them water straight from the tap because its so cloudy & gross.
Yes fluoride does help decrease cavities... BUT floridated water is the chemical variety not the natural mineral.... add to that floradated toothpaste and anti cavity rinses plus showing up in veggies using reused water Kids and Adults are GETTING way too much ...Originally Posted by emmylou
Fluoridated water has had a huge impact on decreasing cavity and decay rates in the human population.
By contrast, parents who feared fluoride and chemicals in supposedly "dirty" tap water and reared their kids on bottled water caused a counter-wave of rise in cavities.

For fluoride poisoning, there has to be a much higher fluoride content than is in fluoridated water.
