Last year for Christmas, Colin's parents let us use their old Christmas tree. 5' and very very old -some of the branches were pretty worn out (they've had it since Colin was a baby) and it leaned due to the age /wear & tear on the base. But that was ok because we had a tree!

This year, my mom decided since Colin and I are getting married soon- we need a good tree that's going to last us for a long time to come!
Also- this year all of my family is comming to our house for Christmas (eek! my first time doing Christmas!
). Last night she took me to Home Depot and suprised me by getting us a new tree!
I'm soo excited! It's a 7.5'' Yonkers tree (slim). I prefer the fuller trees with a little more girth to them- but since we are putting the tree in the corner of the living room- i picked out the slimmer one as it will fit better!
It was only $69 too- and she had a discount -so i think we wound up with it for $59!
I'm soo excited about the new tree! I can't wait to decorate it!!!!!

I will be giving the other tree to my sister Kimmy for her to use this year! Last year her dog knocked over her tree and killed it
They are moving in January hopefully so there's no need for them to go out and buy a new one until they see the size of the home they're getting and what kind of tree will suite it best- so i'm giving them our old one for this year so everyone has a tree!

Here's a picture of what it looks like. I didn't want a pre-lit one because i want to get my own energy efficient lights to go on there. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...trees-_-732834

All i need now is a tree skirt!
Anyone wanna help me decorate?????

hehe, you're so excited that I'm surprised you aren't decorating it right now!

Lovely tree. You'll have to show us pictures after it's decorated.

Ohhh man, i am sooo worried about that little buggar! I just know he's going to be trouble
Isabella too! I have a feeling those two are going to try and make a cat tree out of my Christmas tree!
Last year Kojak was a baby at Christmas time and he was in the crate with his littermates- so he never went near the tree. The only animal we had here at the time that did was Fosters- and he was really good.

Now we have Fosters, Whiskey, Jasmine, Isabella, Kojak, and Velvet since i brought my 3 kitties over from my mom's and we adopted kojak & whiskey
I'm definitely wiring the ornaments on that tree!

In the past years -Velvet and Jasmine are pretty good about not messing with the ornaments (jasmine will bat at the ones on the bottom- but since i wire them on- it's not an issue.) In the past though - Isabella is my tree climber
I have a feeling Kojak will try to climb! Wish me luck! That tree is going up and i will SOOOO win -even if i have to put a fence around it!

I am thrilled!!!
I thought it was soo sweet of my mom to do that (she knows how much i love to decorate for the holidays
) I've invited her over the day after Thanksgiving to help me decorate after i get off work (i have to work Thanksgiving and the day after)I'm going to fix some little snacks/ hot chocolate and play Christmas music and we'll have a good time!
(i'm really close to my mom).

I would SOOOOO decorate now if i could get away with it
I started shopping for my Christmas ornaments back in September when Garden Ridge had some of their ornaments 50-75% off! (i shop in the "off season" for my Christmas stuff because it's cheaper and the finds are great!) (i still don't think i have enough for the larger tree- but we'll see!) All i need now is a tree skirt and some pretty ribbon to go around it! Hehe i'm sooo excited!

I do wait till the day after Thanksgiving most years though (it's a family tradition). I don't want to "rush" through Thanksgiving -so i try to have an ounce of self control and wait till the day after
I think i should try and find a little santa outfit big enough to fit Fosters and an elf one for Whiskey
My family would get a kick out of it!

I've already started to work on the menu for Christmas dinner!
Everyone's comming over for Christmas dinner after i get off work (i have to work holidays).

I will definitely take pictures when i get stuff done!

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I'm just buying a fibre optic one this year so i can put it in the kitchen when i'm at work.

It takes me ages to dress my tree because theres so many beads, baubles, ribbons tinsel etc...., and i know Jack will not only clumb it but he'll probably pull them off, or worse still it'll be pulled completely over

Ohh Jack....
he's going to have fun exploring the new "kitty tree" for sure!
I have a feeling the little black and white kitty that's trying to eat my earring at the moment will be a handfull too
I'm bracing myself for the fury of Isabella and Kojak when they see the new tree
I'm soooo wiring those ornaments on there!
