My 1 year old nursing cat cries excessively. It doesn't matter what we do she never seems to be happy. If we put her with her kittens she cries to go out of the room, if we put her out of the room she cries to come back in. Putting her outside doesn't help either. We have tried encouraging her with food and attention but nothing seems to work. She is starting to wean the kittens as they are 5 weeks old. We also have a 3 year old male cat, however he seems to keep his distance - he hardly ever comes into the kittens room - so we don't think that is the problem. Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice for us??

She is probably in heat again. When the kittes are fully weaned, you can have her spayed and the crying should stop. If it starts to effect the kittens or she has any other signs, you may want to take her to a vet.
