I just got my Litter Robot, which was the final piece on my list on what to get before the kittens arrive.

I was wondering for all other owners who have multiple cats in the house, what kind of behavior did you notice? Do you have more than one robot, or one robot and a box?

The thing is I will have three kittens and people suggested I have 3-4 boxes, but I don't see the purpose of having the litter robot then, since I bought it to make sure it would stay clean when I'm at work or gone for 1-2 days.

I wouldn't mind at the extreme having 2 litter robots, but definitely not 4.

Thanks for your input!

My two cats do fine with one. Before I got the LR I had two boxes and at the time I had two boys which would use one for peeing and the other for poo.
I decided to get the litter robot after one of them died and the other cat went through stark behavioral changes. So, now I've gotten a second cat which took to the LR very easily and the older cat has settled back into his old self.
I've only had it four weeks and I haven't set it to run automatically yet, but they both use it easily. I run it three or four times a day and never find more than one or two piles in it.
After my roomba, it's the best thing I ever bought!

I have one robot for 3 cats. There is no need for multiple litter boxes as the litter is always clean.
