Anyone else watch The Unit? Along with Stargate Atlantis this is the only other show that I really watch.

Tonight's episode was good but one of the team members was wounded and another was killed just as they were being extracted and seemingly safe (Hammerhead- SFC Hector Williams). He was one of my favorite characters on the show.

No, I haven't seen the new sci-fi show. I don't have cable so I have to find the Stargate Atlantis shows on the internet.

Colin and I watched a little bit of it tonight. I'd never seen the show before- it was pretty good.

I like it. Some of the stuff they do is a lot of Hollywood but the show is based on the book Inside Delta Force: The Story of America's Elite Counterterrorist Unit by Eric Haney. Delta was modeled after the British SAS and are much more than counterterror unit. Besides the CT stuff Delta will also do snatch and grab missions, provided protection for American and foreign dignitaries, hostage rescue, etc. Most of Delta's members are recruited from the ranks of the Rangers and Green Berets. Only a very small percentage of those accepted to "try out" will end up on one of the teams. Like other special operations training a large part of it is mental. Operators have to be able to think quickly and clearly in extremely stressful situations.
