Why is it that when I brush Darwin she rubs her face on something scratchy? I know that the area around the mouth/chin have scent glands and all, but she primarily does this when she's being brushed (like on her back and hind quarters).

Any ideas?

Oh, and she likes to come up to my face while I'm sleeping and stick her furry little paw in my mouth. But I know why she does that.....lol....the little wench!!

Thanks!!!

Maybe it's because she's happy? Or maybe she just wants to put down her scent in that particular spot where you groomed her and claim it as her 'grooming spot'? To be honest I don't know! Sorry!

Mitzi often comes and sticks her paw in my mouth too! I'd say it was cute, but 3am is ridiculous!

I'll move this to the behavior forum

Mine do that and i'm sure it is just rubbing their scent on things

I've noticed that, too, and I don't have an answer, either. The brushing is very stimulating and I'm guessing that prompts an urge to mark, which relieves the tension built up by the brushing. Just guessing,

Grooming is a stimulating behavior. "I like this, let me mark it!" is what she's saying. Just like we bookmark a website we like.
