Oscar & Smudge are going in for their castration on Friday, so that we have the weekend to look after them.

I understand that it's a fairly small operation and that the vets will give us some advice too, but I just wanted to see if there's anything we'll need to do after their op, asides from normal kitty things?

Thanks in advance!

Just try to keep them from jumping too much. It's a quick & easy heal.

For the male kitties it's not a huge deal. Just try to keep them from being too active for a day or so. Bijou didn't even have stitches. The doctor just pulled the two sides of the incision together and Bijou healed just fine. Just watch to ensure they don't lick themselves more than usual. A little licking won't hurt them so just keep an eye on them.

Male kittens usually don't have any complications. Keep an eye on them if the anesthesia hasn't totally worn off by the time you bring them home, because they might be uncoordinated, so jumping and climbing could be risky, and watch out for excessive licking.

So the kitties are home and they're both fast asleep at the moment.
They were wide awake charging around earlier so I'm glad to see them sleep. One thing I have noticed though is Oscars pupils are dilated, and have been since I got home 30 minutes ago (they woke up from the op 4 hours ago). Anyone know why this is the case?

My pupils are like that after anaesthetic so maybe that's why. I'll let someone with more knowledge answer though.
