I imagine there are a lot of people in that town who were glad to see 'em go! "Oh, it was terrible, Aunt Sally -- the lawn gnome you gave us was stolen! Yes, and so were dozens of others. It was a gnome-napping spree! What? Oh no, Aunt Sally, you don't need to get us another one... really..."
