Ok I have a cat that was diagnosed with asthma. We moved and she is now weaned off her medication and has been for about 2 or 3 months.

Some people I run across are telling me that if she isn't on meds, then she never really did have asthma.

What do you guys think?

Not true. I have asthma and have had since birth. For the last 6 months, for the first time in my life, I have been able to stop my meds. Incredible. There is no way I am cured. It is just a good period of time for me.

While I don't know much about asthma, it sounds like something at your older house was a trigger for her attacks. The new house lacks whatever the trigger was, so she may not need the medication any more. If she had a rescue inhaler before, I would probably keep that around just in case.

I would not be surprised if there was a trigger at the old house. This house has new carpet, new tile, new everything. It's like she has a life now, she's active.

I just got peeved that they told me that my cat doesn't have asthma when the vet did a bunch of tests to rule out the other stuff like heartworms, heart disease, infection etc.

She was never on an inhaler but she was on terbutaline and prednisolone. She got off the terbutaline for a while but was still on the pred. 3 pills a day...then 2...then 1...then nothing! I still have some of those just in case.
