A good read re: Pet Food

If the pet food now is so "bad" for the pets, then explain how come pets are living longer and healthier lives

That's a decent article...I think todays consumer is a lot more educated than even 5 years ago, and the organic/all natural market for pet foods has really grown...more good options exist today than previously.

However, I think a lot of people still aren't aware enough of what goes into many commercial pet foods, and how little supervised the industry actually is. Perhaps the last pet food recall will make them switch to healthier brands of food, and thus put pressure on the big producers to clean up their food/act

For further reading, I recommend Ann N. Martin's "Food Pets Die For" and "Protect Your Pet". They're both pretty shocking, and cover many of the points made in that article. I've pre-ordered the revised edition of the former: http://www.amazon.com/Food-Pets-Die-...4188941&sr=8-9

The situation in the EU isn't much better, as explained in Hans-Ulrich Grimm's "Katzen würden Mäuse kaufen", for anybody who understands German.

I agree with others on this ... it is helpful but it is a old article...
