My Granny's Pride and Joy, Have you Ever Seen a Pheasent Like This One?

I never even knew there were different kinds of pheasents till she brought this guy home. She now has a zebra colored pheasent and a couple more of these parrot colored pheasents.

Does anyone know about pheasents like this one???

He's either a Dark Throated Golden, or Red Golden both look similar.
Wait till you see him displaying.


There are all kinds of exotic pheasants, my fav is the Lady Amherst which may be what the zebra colored ones you describe are.

Himalayan Monals are striking as well and Tragopans are just different looking.

Where are these birds from?? Are they a native bird somewhere???

The Lady Amherst is native to Tibet, China and Burma.
The Himalayan Monal is from the Himalayas.
And the Goldens are from central China (the different Goldens I mentioned above are simply color mutations).

There are several species of Tragopan but I believe all are from Asia.

Wow, so pretty! Now I know what they are - we have some in the mini-zoo of the local park. Just stunning.

My grandma had a set of serving plates and 2 of them have those kinds of pheasants painted on them. there were a total of 12 and they were gorgeous.
Those are beatiful creatures!

YEP!!! That's him!!!! And that's what his girlfriend looks like! They are such pretty birds and that's what he does ALL day long....Shows off for the girls. Why don't human boys do things like that for us all day? Wouldn't it be nice!

Aside from the hissing, I think they have the cutest sounds they use to talk to each other.
