She was definately hit by a car. One canine broken off at the tip, a few teeth broken completely out. No broken bones, her jaw is fine, no internal bleeding.....she has peed(have to watch for poop). She's on canned only for a few weeks. Has a big gaping sore on her chin....hair missing on her front leg & some off her ear.

Now I don't know where she's going to live. She's miserable indoors all the time, obviously not smart enough to live outside. She's running around the office right now....bonking her head on my chair wanting me to pet her. I might tell her to suck it up & keep her inside....what else can I do?

glad she's gonna be ok! I don't know what to do about her living situation though
post #38 of 53
I'm so glad she is going to be ok. I would have to agree with you on the indoor thing. I'm sure after a little while she will get use to it. I have several cats who were outdoors for a portion of their lives and now are very happy to be living indoors. (Pheelicks will sometimes try to sneek out the backdoor, but after about 5 feet, he freezes in place. Almost like he realizes, "oh, It was better inside")

Good luck to the both of you.. I'll keep sending healing vibes

Molly was indoors for 8 months & never quite adjusted....she developed some behavioral problems. Of course, Ophelia didn't always help much. I was quite surprised though...Molly is the only girl kitty Ophelia liked & would actually touch her. So, I dunno, somehow I will work something out.

Either she's in the house, or dad builds me the enclosure I want!

Im glad to hear she's gonna be ok!
She's just like you Nat.... a tough cookie!

As far as the living inside/outside debate?

I say inside. Maybe take her out once a day on a leash and harness will suffice her urge/need to go out?

I'm so glad to hear she's ok! I hope you can figure something out for her.

I'm very happy to hear the Molly is going to be okay.

I suppose there's always the hope that getting hit by a car would make her prefer to stay inside???

I hope so. Otherwise, I dunno, I can start her on Buspar, too.

Actually I was thinking that as well!

Oh no poor Molly!!! Sounds as though she was VERY lucky not to have more serious injuries.

How long has she been outside for? One accident doesn't mean she'll have future accidents - hopefully she's learnt to stay away from the road now! If you CAN keep her inside though without too many problems, that'd be great.

I'm glad to hear Molly will be OK How will the broken teeth impact her?

Molly my goodness! I saw the photos in your other thread, looks like she ran into a car face-first the poor dear. Her lookalike Radar sends get better kitty-kisses.

I was going to say the same thing. It's amazing what a close encounter with a car (not to mention pain) can do to change a cat's mind about how appealing the outside looks. So glad to find out that she's okay! Hopefully she mends her relatively minor 'owies' quickly, and adjusts well to being inside!

Oh my Nat! I just saw this thread..I am so glad she is going to be okay.

Can't you just force her to stay inside? What type of behavioural issues did she have?

Poor thing!

She would do nothing but eat & sleep. She sprayed. She would bite. She was starting fights. Pooping on my bed, in corners, etc. Was being possessive of food & litterboxes. Then she'd turn around & be a complete angel!

The broken teeth may eventually need to come out, but the vet felt that for now, they were OK. It wouldn't be safe to remove them so soon after something so major.
