My cat has a dime size/marble sized lump on her cheek that seems to be getting bigger. We had the vet look at a year or so ago and he thought it was a salvortary gland that just popped out. Its getting bigger, and we are taking her to the vet on Monday, but has anyone ever heard of this? Thanks in advance!

I've never heard of it, but my first thought was maybe at that age she has a bad tooth? I know an absess can swell and is very painful. Is she eating ok?

My cat Ping Pong had a tumour on her cheek. I hope that's not it, but it's something you should be aware of. Cats also are prone to get absesses, and in this case the vet will probably have to drain it. Good luck!

Good thing you are getting it checked out. My George had a cancerous growth on his cheek that I guess is pretty common . They remove it and it usually doesn't come back .

Please have it checked out carefully. Hopefully, it is just an enlarged gland, but sometimes the glands can enlarge because of tumors in them. If your vet is unsure at all, please opt for a biopsy to rule out cancer. I will keep your sweet kitty in my prayers that it is nothing bad.

Thanks for the replies! I am making the appointment tomorrow. Hopefully its something simple. She is very sweet and lovable, and we do not want anything bad to happen to her.

It doesn't appear to be painful, and she isn't loosing weight. It is getting bigger. I'll let you know what the vet says. :-)

Bobs had a lump on her cheek. Vet removed and biopsied. It was a basal cell carcinoma but all was removed during surgery. The only downside was due to location of tumor a nerve from her eye was damaged slightly. So as times that eye will only open about 90% of the way. It doesn't seem to have bothered her though.

Is is squishy??? My cat got one of those at about the same age. It turned out to be an over active salavitory gland......Nothing mayjor it just needed drained now and then. We saved vet bills because my mom is an RN and she just loves to do gross things. My cat actually let her poke it and squish the fluid out and didn't fight once anytime my mom did this. It must have been painfull because after it was done she felt so much better.
She lived to be 16 and didn't have any problems with that gland other than that.
