My stereo has a mind of its own

I have a big stereo/radio/cd player on top of my dresser. It was my auntie's--I got it two months after she died. It has been working great until today. Whenever I press play to listen to a CD, it starts going crazy and fast forwards through all the songs on the disc and won't stop until I turn the power off. The stereo isn't that old and it wasn't used much when my auntie owned it. It's driving me nuts and I'm beginning to think it has a mind of its own....

Maybe it became possessed during the Halloween festivities.

That must be it!!!!!!!!! How weird!

Have you tried a different CD? Sometimes it's the disk rather than the player...

Laser lens could be dirty or have a cat hair stuck in there. DH has had cat hair on a ps2 laser lens before, so it can happen.
