I've had Dana for about two years. She's very well behaved and affectionate. We moved about three months ago, though I think Dana has adjusted well. I've noticed that when I go down into the (semi-finished) basement, which is really her realm, Dana is sure to notice, momentarily greets me, and then heads straight to her food to eat a few bites. She may very well eat at other times, but I think that what I've observed is quite interesting. I wonder if it is "normal" feline behavior, or if any of you have observed this with your cat/s. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

One of my cats, a two year old male, will run and eat a few bites everytime I get near the food dishes. He's the only one of five that does this, so I think it's just a peculiar behavior that some cats exhibit.

Myrtle does the same thing you describe. She can be snoozing in the kitchen and, when I come in, she wakes up, meows at me, and goes & eats a bite of kibble.

Seems like a normal enough association - you are the food-giver, cat sees you, thinks of food, there's the food, have some. Kind of like whenever I see the refrigerator.
