She gets very affectionate when I'm on the computer. Sweetie is not a lap cat. However when I'm at the computer she starts by walking on the keys a few times. I put her down and she's back up again. Then I have to hold her in my arms and love and stroke her. She purrs, kneads and rubs her head against my face. This goes on for about 10 min. until I put her down or she is distracted. She's 2 yrs. old, I've had her for a year so I don't know her history. She sleeps on my pillow at night, but if I try to hold her while watching TV she won't let me. When I first got her I could not put both hands on her at the same time. Its like she was scared of being abused. She was abandoned in a box with a 3 mo. kitten. So I don't think her life before me was that great. She became someone's throw away pet.
Anyway, have any of you had this experience with your cat only being affectionate in certain circumstances? I would appreciate your feed back.

My cat is not a lap sitter either but he does like to lay on me while I am sleeping at 4:00am. He will occasionally sit by me on the couch but not often. He does plop down on the desk while I am at the computer and always plops down on top of the newspaper when I am trying to read it.

Strange, strange kitties...

As was mentioned in another post, my cats really, really like to get affectionate when I'm pinned on the loo. Several other people reported the same sort of thing. My joke was, I have a new version of the song "You'll never Walk Alone"
