Has anyone ever had their arm and hand go numb all of the sudden? My right arm and hand are numb and have been for a couple of hours now. Some parts are also kind of sore. I tried looking stuff up online, but nothing really explained anything. I had this happen about a month ago too and it went away while I was sleeping.

If it is not gone by tomorrow, I am going to go to the hospital. I don't have a family doctor to go to and they don't have doctors at the hospital here after 8pm. My boyfriend had a couple of fingers go numb before and they just told him to stop doing whatever it is he was doing that made his fingers numb.

I get that and it can be caused by a pinched nerve in your neck. I also have bulging discs in my neck and that can set it off. It's a lousy feeling - I hope it goes away soon

I get where a few fingers go numb if my shoulder gets sore. For me relief generally comes from resting that arm and shoulder and keeping my bra strap off of it whenever I can.

pinched nerve or trapped,
my whole right leg goes from pain to numb(makes it hard to walk when it does that one) at time.

I had mild carpal tunnel a couple of years ago, and it does effect your whole arm. The numbness is one of the warning signs that you have inflammation in your wrist. Try taking some anti-inflammatory meds and put an ice pack on your wrist. Also get it checked out by an MD as soon as possible.

Could be CTS, but sounds more like a neck problem - I had two discs replaced in my neck after several docs couldn't figure out what was wrong with my arm - same symptoms as you, just make sure the doc asks about your neck! Delayed my treatment by two months until a doc finally said "Have you ever injured your neck?" And a 10-year-old injury turned out to be the cause of my problem!

There is a mild exercise you can do.
Hold your arm out straight from your shoulder, palm down. Starting with your pinky, grasp the tip and pull it back gently until you feel it stretch under your wrist, not painfully. It may also stretch from wrist to elbow as well, but will not hurt anything. Just remember pull GENTLY. Work from the pinky toward the thumb until you get all of the fingers. Then pull the fingers, not the thumb, gently back all at once. This is one of those things that will not hurt if it does not help, but it usually helps. It can also help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome if you don't already have it. It is good for people that do repetitive action jobs like typing or cutting. Hot and cold might help, too.Ten minutes cold, then 10 minutes heat for about an hour.
I am a licensed massage therapist, even though I do not practice profesionally any more. Not enough money in it. I hope this helps you. If I can help at all please feel free to pm me.
