I give Popsie his wet at the same time every morning and free feed dry. Well he snarfs down his wet food but I have to actually coax him to eat dry in between wet feedings. I know old cats don't eat much but is it possible that one can of food can keep him full for 24 hours? Maybe he's losing his sense of smell and he can't smell his dry food very good. Anyone have any ideas. I should mention that he hasn't lost his appetite because he eats his wet.

He's about 7.5 pounds and I feed him those tiny cans of Fancy Feast. That's the only wet he'll eat.

a little too little.... see 1/2 an once to one ounce per lb per day.... so 3.75 oz to 7.5 oz per day ... he likely is fine but try to get a bit more in him

Ok, but why do you think he's not eating his dry food that I keep down all the time?

Have you checked his teeth and gums? If he has a bad tooth or gum problems his mouth may be too sore to eat hard dry food. Or he may have just decided he likes the wet food better.
Maybe you could feed him canned food twice a day.

I agree...

the wet food is better for kitty anyway, try giving it twice a day.

My 3 yo won't touch her dry food unless she's starving. She'll just wait for the wet...

Well I bought him a new bag of dry today because his old bag was almost gone. I opened the new bag and gave him some and he snarfed it so I'm thinking his old must have been stale. I put a clip on his new bag so that won't happen again.
