However, he said he uses that word to refer to black people in general. Not that they are bad or ignorant. Instead of saying black person, he used that horrible word. I am black myself and I DON'T use that word and I get upset when I hear any race say it. It's ridiculous, and for the record if it matters I don't listen to rap music either. I loved his show, but now I will stick with bounty girls which I started to like more anyway.
I have never been so mad to call someone a racial slur, or a prejudice name that's not the the way I am. Tapped or private, he still said it. Anyone who uses that word no matter what race you are, whether you put an er or an a at the end of it you are still a very ignorant racist person.
I didn't get that he used the "N" word to refer to ALL black people or to refer to black people ALL of the time. I agree it a bad ugly word. I am Jewish, and I didn't appreciate the way Mel Gibson talked about Jewish people, but that doesn't mean I'm going to throw out the Lethal Weapon Movies I have and enjoy.
As far as I'm concerned about The Dog using that word in a private conversation, and out of anger: I look at where he came from. He didn't come from the best of families, and I'm sure it was a word that was tossed about on a regular basis in his family when he was growing up. Even though I believe he grew out of the way he was brought up, some of that ugliness is ingrained in a person's head and follows them even in to their enlightened state, especially when they're angry and upset. I mean he says he's a Christian yet he curses A LOT.
It isn't right that he said the "N" word, and it isn't right that I said the "F" word last night, but I KNOW that I don't hate Gay people. I KNOW I'm not homophobic. Yet, I said it. I personally don't see a big difference between what HE said and what I said. And the fact is, what HE said was not something that was meant for the publics ears.
I would defy any of us to stand up to that kind of scrutiny and come out unscathed. I doubt there is a person here who is enlightened ALL of the time, especially in their most private moments. It isn't like The Dog asked for a big press conference and then started calling people the "N" word.
I am more scared by the fact that his conversation was made public.
