I had a stray cat adopt our family and she recently had 2 kittens, one of the kittens has passed on just today and now she has taken the other kitten away from the house today. Since she lost the one kitten did she not feel safe here anymore? Why did she leave?

How did the kitten die? How long have you been adopted by momcat? Do you have other cats?
This is probably her second (or 3rd/4th/nth) litter and she decided it was better to raise the surviving kitten somewhere else - maybe a safer place or where food is more available.
